Season ticket – in short

  • Ticket for 24 hours, 7, 30 or 365 days
  • 365-day ticket — 12 months travel for the price of 10
  • Optional seat reservation on some routes
  • Refundable

How to buy a Season ticket

Alternatively, you can buy your season ticket from a ticket machine or at a staffed station, but not on board the train or on vy.no.

The price of season tickets varies depending on where you are travelling from and to, and what type of ticket you choose. You can find the prices in the journey planner in the Vy app.

You can find information about discounts, travel payment cards (reisekort), non-personal season tickets and paper-ticket format below.

Seat reservation

For certain routes, as for instance Gjøvik–Oslo, you can add seat reservation to your season ticket in our app.

On the Bergen Line you need a seat reservation. This means you must add a seat reservation when you buy a ticket, or you can buy a seat reservation from the conductor on board the train.

Terms and conditions for Vy Season ticket

  • No seating restrictions apply to Season tickets, meaning you can sit in any available seat. The exception is the Bergen Line where you need a seat reservation. On some departures in Eastern Norway you can purchase a seat reservation to be guaranteed a seat. You can read more about seat reservations here.
  • A Season ticket with seat reservation may only be purchased in the Vy app. You can reserve seats several weeks ahead of travel using the Vy app.
  • Children 6–17 years and students get a 50 per cent discount on 30-day Season tickets.
  • Dogs and/or bicycles will incur additional cost. Wheelchairs and strollers are carried free of charge.
  • A four-hour cancellation period applies from the time of purchase if you buy your ticket in the app or from a ticket machine, provided the Season ticket has not been activated.
  • When you buy a season ticket, you choose the time from which it should be valid. The ticket is then valid until the same time 24 hours, 7, 30 or 365 days later – depending on which period you have chosen.
  • The 24-hour ticket is only available as a zone ticket for Ruter and Skyss.
  • When switching to winter time, the clock is set back one hour. For season tickets that are still valid after winter time comes into effect, the actual duration may be one hour shorter. This is due to a planned and general change in the time system and is not compensated. Similarly, when switching to summer time, the clock is set forward one hour, and the season ticket will in practice be valid one hour longer.

Note that the season tickets from the public transport companies have their own conditions and terms. Please see their web sites for information.
